The Hawaii Island Humane Society accepts all animals at its three islandwide shelters regardless of species, condition or circumstance. Every year, more than 14,000 animals arrive on shelter doorsteps – a far greater number than can be adopted into our community. While many animals are infirm, adoption could spare many others from euthanasia.
The Board of Directors of the Hawaii Island Humane Society has developed a Rescue Partnership Application and Agreement that provides a framework for qualified organizations and individuals to adopt HIHS animals. Under the agreement, and to encourage a significant increase in rescue partners’ animal adoptions, HIHS adoption fees are waived for our rescue organization partners.
