Treating Hawaii's Animals with
Aloha!
Hawaii passed a felony animal cruelty law in June 2007. Until
then Hawaii was one of only eight states without a felony
cruelty law. We are very proud to have been a part of the
lawmaking process. HIHS teamed up with Hawaiian Humane, Maui
Humane and Kauai Humane to lobby for the much needed changes
to the current statutes.
The new law would make animal cruety convictions punishable
by steep fines and even jail time. This is a huge win for
the animals in our community.

a Kuranda bed!
The shelter dogs would love a soft bed to
sleep on while they wait for their forever
home. The floors at our shelters are concrete
and a Kuranda bed would enable them to have a dry, elevated
bed to lie on while waiting to be adopted. |
