When you join the Hawai’i Island Humane Society’s ‘Ohana, you are joining a community of volunteers and staff committed to providing a progressive and fear-free approach of care and love to all our shelter guests. Volunteers are a valuable and essential asset to our organization, and to the many animals in our shelters that need loving homes. We cannot do the work we do, without people like you!

How to become a volunteer

• Schedule your spot for our Volunteer Introduction: Schedule Appointment
• Upon completing the Volunteer Introduction, the Volunteer Coordinator will send you link to create your Volunteer Portal and fill out the Volunteer Application
• Once your application is submitted, the Volunteer Coordinator will get in touch with you!
