****As of January 6, 2023, the Community Pet Pantry is no longer taking patrons at this time.****

Hawaii Island Humane Society is able to provide dog and cat food to low those facing financial hardship residents of Hawaii County in an effort to support pet retention and keep pets with their families. Those in need of pet food can visit our pantry on a weekly basis and receive food for up to 5 pets per visit.

This program is supported by donations from our community members and our supplies are limited. Food and supplies are provided on a first come first served basis, and availability is not always guaranteed.

Community Pet Pantry Terms and Conditions:

  • We are able to provide 2 weeks worth of food at a time for up to 5 owned pets.
  • At this time, we can provide dog, cat, puppy, and kitten food as supplies last.
  • The amount of food you receive is based roughly on the weight of your pets; please provide accurate information when requesting pet food!
  • Pets must be spayed/neutered in order to receive pet pantry food. If your pets are not fixed, you are still welcome to come to Pet Pantry and speak with our Spay and Neuter Coordinator to sign up for a low-cost surgery!
  • HIHS believes that pets are for companionship. We expect that you not breed or acquire more pets while requesting pet food assistance.
  • All food is donated by a community member. HIHS cannot guarantee brand, type, or quality of food each time.

Our Community Pet Pantry operates as first come, first served. The Community Pet Pantry takes place at the Keaau Shelter every Friday from 2:30-3:30pm. For Community Pet Pantry in Kona, please visit the Animal Community Center in Holualoa any time on Fridays-Tuesdays from 10am-3pm.
